Stephanie McClean

Lost 12kgs / 26lbs

I am a dedicated paramedic, single mother of one, who leads a very busy schedule, juggling work and life while battling fatigue and erratic eating habits due to my hectic work schedule. Leaving me very little time to exercise and recreation. I grew tired of looking in the mirror and noticing my expanding waistline and decided to do something about it.

With issues in both knees, I became committed to signing up for my journey into the weight loss space and in my first month lost a good 4 kilo’s. my knees continued to give me some bother during training, but I pushed through my sessions .

Then things took a turn for the worse taking me out of training. While on duty one evening tending to a member of the public needing medical treatment . It was at this point the helper became the victim and l received slash wounds up the length of my left arm putting me out of action for 3 months from work and training.

Returning intermittently while training lower body and light cardio. I was able to finish my weight loss program , with nutritional mentoring to see me go on to loose a total of 12kgs.

Finally starting to mend my way back to full recovery into what makes me happy.

Lost 15kgs / 33lbs

I was a broken man in body and in spirit due to a work related incident that has put him on compensation for a good six months and more. And as I write, I am about to have surgery on both knees with the intention of returning to work.

With the added concern of delayed surgery changing on 3 occasions. It has been a rollercoaster ride of physiotherapy, doctors, and rehab sessions. But at no point did l entertain any thought of throwing in the towel. The towel was used to swipe another session done and dusted.

I have trained diligently everyday, five days a week , being in it for the long haul. With the love and support of my wife and child, this has given me the motivation to go all out or nothing, for longevity and quality of life.

Feeling so much lighter, l have more energy, more positive and more likely to keep putting himself out there. I am a much better version of myself, Dad, husband, provider and worker. A better everything.

Lost 28kg / 61lbs

I had been training for 9 months with another trainer, making great progress in developing strength during that time. However my first goal was to loose weight and was delighted and excited to take on my new fitness goals with a tracking app that would see me go onto not only gain strength in five weeks. But experienced significant changes and gains in how strong and how quick I developed muscle power and stamina over that short period.

Every training session became a challenge to increase in volume and weight loss that saw each day merge into another without skipping a beat. I credit my rapid weight loss and gains in strength to a tracking app to keep me accountable and in routine taking all the guess work out for me.

Life has its challenges and I had my fair share of personal and spiritual loss that at times would divert my attention .

I made healthier food choices and became conscious of what and how to eat according to my fitness regime. Learning the timing and science of my choices around food.

No matter how long you are stuck, or how long it takes to come out of a situation. Getting back into a regular exercise routine is a lifestyle routine to take care of myself, my ministry and my well-being.

I’ve been overweight all my life as my culture is predisposed to it since I was little. Being South African we love our food and social life and do celebrate much of that over food. Food rich in oils, carbohydrates, fats and oils. With the stresses of life I neglected my health, gaining weight at a rapid weight. I would fluctuate up and down over many times and wanted to change bad habits I had developed.

I began a low fat, low carb, high protein nutritional lifestyle to do something about it. Three weeks into my fitness goals I could feel the life coming back into my bones. I was more confident, I could walk without feeling exhausted and my energy levels were better than they have ever been. Through much persistence I continue to achieve the fitness goals that I have sought to maintain. In gaining strength that is important for my employment as a support worker for disability.

I have suffered from migraines all my life due to a crooked spine that has me injecting botox every month to keep the migraines bearable. Surgery is the only option to straighten my spine, and strengthen my neck for better posture and better health.

Being overweight all my life has not helped my health issues, and as a young woman with years ahead of me. I wanted to add life to my years in leading a lighter, healthier lifestyle that would support my work and my social life.

So began the journey into consistent training for ten months and reached my goal taking me into double digits for the first time and under 100kgs / 220lbs.

The change has given me a new lease on life as I was initially booked in to have bariatric surgery 2019. Now having avoided that, as well as having surgery to realign my spine and reduce the migraines significantly. I am happier and lead a healthier lifestyle with my partner.

Working twelve hours a day I would drink 3 cans of coke, and milk in my coffee was my bad habit. Sometimes drinking 3-4 coffees a day to get through my day . What made me realise I was drinking too much milk was having run out of it while having visitors. It was then I knew I had consumed too much milk on a weekly basis of 5 litres / 1.3gallons.

A devoted partner, and loving father, who’s passionate about running a fast food restaurant . Admist the hustle and bustle of my culinary world. I found myself caught in a cycle of unhealthy eating habits. Battling long working hours, with the demands of running a busy restaurant. My weight had spiralled out of control, and when your run off your feet serving, cooking, preparing and serving customers daily. It became routine to dip into my own work kitchen without any thought of how much over a day I would consume.

At the age of 25 I had my first heart scare, followed by another two years later. It was at this point I had to decide my health was my wealth and made a commitment to changing the course of my lifestyle habits before my first daughter arrived 2022.

I was at my heaviest of 130kgs , June 2022 and visited a fitness centre to bring it under control. So with the support of my family and driven by the desire to lead a healthier life. I took a deep dive into my fitness, determined to make the change. Early mornings became my sanctuary, where I would lace up and out the door to my training sessions three days a week. The numbers on the scales started to drop and it wasn’t long before I began to take my life back. As the weight began to fall away, I discovered a new found routine that would keep me accountable and lighter.

Today I enjoy the journey with my partner Chanelle. Together we have embraced the healthier life, creating a supportive community focused on well-being. Today I stand 15 kilo’s / 33lbs lighter, juggling a busy life, while proving that with dedication and a positive mindset. Achieving a happier healthier life is within reach.
